You must renew a photocard licence every 10 years

Your new licence will be valid from the date your application is approved, not from the expiry date of your current licence




Your photo

  • DVLA will attempt to use your passport photo for your new licence
  • DVLA tell you if a suitable electronic photo is not available

Before you start please have available

  • Your driving licence
  • Your correct addresses and postcodes
  • Your UK valid Passport Number
  • A credit or debit which you are authorised to use

And be able to confirm that

  • You are a resident of Great Britain. This site services UK mainland and Northern Ireland
  • You are not banned from driving

How long it takes

Licence’s are usually issued within 1 weeks, however, due to current Pandemic, DVLA are experiencing delays
